Issue 5 – Hermann

Duane L. Hermann

Against the Dark

In a cavernous hall,
       once a lunchroom
(with balcony),
       now disguised
as a ballroom
       (though small),
not exactly cozy
       for intimate recitation
of poems and reflections,
       but still we tried.
It was a dark
       and drippy night,
though no windows
       would let us know.
Still, we gathered
       and sought comfort
with kindred souls
       against the dark.
